FUMC Scouting Report  from Sandy Evans, Scouting Coordinator  July 27, 2010

The Girl Scout Troop 808 has been to London, and is now in Paris.  While in London, they stayed at the Pax Lodge which is a Girl Scout World Center.  They have seen many of the major sites in London, and toured Stonehenge.  In Paris, they are visiting the famous sites and attractions.  They will return to Miami and drive home from there.  Karen has been posting pictures on “Shutterfly”, and I am sure they will have lots to say about their adventures.

The Boy Scouts are celebrating their 100th anniversary this year, and are having a National Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia this week.  The Jamboree begins Monday July 26th and runs to Wednesday August the 4th.  Four contingent troops will represent the North Florida Council.  Two of the troops left from Gainesville last Friday.  Wesley is the Senior Patrol Leader for Troop 2049.  John Perkins and I will be visiting with them and are definitely looking forward to this special event.

The scouts and their leaders would all like to express their appreciation to the Church for its continuing support and prayers.  The Church's financial support and personal encouragement have meant so much to the programs and have certainly helped them greatly.

Wednesdays Yoga at FUMC, 12:00n

Something new is going on Wednesdays at noon in the Bethany Room…it's Yoga at FUMC!  Feeling tired? Out of breath? Feeling a bit stiff or finding it harder to get around lately? Are you looking to get some exercise back into your day? Yoga can help with all of these things. Yoga is a system that coordinates specific breathing technique with a sequence of movements. Over time, a regular yoga practice can improve range of motion and strengthen muscles. Yoga is particularly good for helping to evenly strengthen the small muscles around the knees, ankles, and shoulders, making everyday movements more comfortable. Regular practice of the breathing technique used in yoga can increase lung capacity and, by bringing in more oxygen with each breath, it can increase energy levels. If any of these sound like benefits you could use, come try a class! Yoga at FUMC is a gentle class for anyone. Everything we do can be modified or left out to accommodate anyone's situation. The yoga class at FUMC is open to anyone and meets Wednesdays from noon to 1 pm in the Bethany Room.
Have questions? Feel free to give me a call or send an email. I'd love to answer your questions and tell you more about the class.
